INTERFAITH PICNIC/BBQ

Saturday 6th May 2017

On a beautiful but windy Saturday, May 6th American Islamic Outreach Foundation and Wedgwood church came together for an Interfaith Picnic BBQ at the MAS Charlotte Facility on Shamrock Drive.

Wedgewood is a United Church of Christ congregation, with Buddhist, Jewish, Muslim, agnostic and atheist members and Christians from many different traditions.

It was a very informal and fun afternoon. Mostly all of the Wedgewood Church members had never been to a mosque before, and were pretty impressed.

The Meat at the BBQ was provided by the Muslim community members and our guests had brought along some salads and vegetarian sides to share.

AIOF Director, Mohamed Haroon Sait spent a little time talking about a basic introduction about Islam, how Jesus and Moses are prophets in Islam, and similarities in Islam, Christianity and Judaism.

Many questions were asked. What is the significance of the Hijab, the meaning of the sacrificial act performed by Prophet Ishmael for Allah and what is said in our daily prayers.

Thanks to our Event Partners: Muslim Women of the Carolina’s and Muslim Education Center.

Wedgwood church would like AIOF and the Muslim community to come and visit their church also and to continue the dialogue of interfaith.

Time

(Saturday) 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
